  • DonorPro Now Certified on Ubuntu
    January 2009

Ubuntu is an operating system like Windows Vista and Macintosh.  It is based on Linux and was designed to be user friendly for everyone.  It's available at no cost (http://www.ubuntu.com) and installs easily.  Hardware requirements (like memory, CPU, speed, hard drive size, and monitors) for Ubuntu are far less than what is required for Windows Vista or even Windows XP.  It runs well on low-end PCs and even PCs that were donated or purchased five or ten years ago.  It's an attractive option for organizations on a tight budget.  The desktop and menus will be familiar to anyone who's used Windows PCs.  Organizations that use Microsoft Office documents (such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) can use OpenOffice on Ubuntu to view, edit, or create these same documents.  Ubuntu uses the secure FireFox browser that many PC users are familiar with.

DonorPro was developed using a computer language (Java) that runs on all operating systems so customers enjoy the full power of DonorPro whether they're running Windows XP or Vista, Macintosh, Ubuntu, etc.
